Made on the Dorset Downs by a Traditional West Coast Farmhouse Cheddar dairy, this cheese benefits from the 4 decades of cheddar-making experience that the Ford Farm cheesemakers have. The method used to make the Double Gloucester differs slightly from that used for the traditional cloth-bound cheddars, in that a lower temperature is used and the curds are stirred less frequently. The resulting cheese is creamy and mild in flavor. The traditionally orange color is achieved by adding annatto to the milk.
