Cheeseboards for Dinner

Cheeseboards for Dinner

If you have been on social media in the past two years or been to any event you may have noticed the trend to have fancy cheese and charcuterie boards.

At the beginning of the pandemic when people were staying home and the trend to eat at home was growing in popularity, cheeseboards, raclette and fondue were being introduced to a new audience or re discovered by families. The trend to eat cheese was helped by the fact that cheese is comforting and was a small piece of comfort in a world that was changing frequently as Covid-19 was spreading,

The trend to make cheeseboards at home as a family or make fondue or enjoy raclette was growing as a way for families to enjoy some fun cheeses and meats and experience travel when travel was locked down.

The "Charcuterie board for dinner" trend had started the summer of 2020. This was helped by people posting their boards on social media to share their creations with others and help the dairy industry survive in a world where restaurants and catering orders were lost overnight with the announcements of lockdowns.

What a better way to enjoy your family time/ or time with friends then to share the love of cheese and food and experience the fun of making charcuterie boards.

As a cheese store manager it was very interesting to see the growth of cheeseboards and customers willing to try new items and learn about new items throughout the past two years of the pandemic. Cheeseboards have opened up to a whole new audience that may have only enjoyed cheeses in the past from their local supermarkets.

As a local, independent cheese store, we appreciate the new found love of cheese and charcuterie and the desire to want to learn and explore our food that has a story, a history. We are loving the cheeseboard for dinner trend at Olsson's and we will also love to help share our knowledge and our experiences with the cheeses, meats and other unique items we carry! We hope to see you soon to help plan your next cheeseboard for dinner!!
